Matthew 5:43-48

For some, Lent is a time of repentance, fasting and sacrificial living in preparation for the coming of Easter, recalling the 40 days and 40 nights that Jesus spent in the desert prior to the beginning of his ministry. Rather than “giving up” something of significance during Lent, others choose to “take up” a spiritual discipline or practice to help deepen their personal relationship with God while simultaneously enriching the lives of others. I suggest then, for those who are interested, the intentional practice of sharing acts of kindness as a way of following Christ as we model “another way of living”. (Your chosen acts of kindness may be as simple or as elaborate as you prefer.) I hope that during our Sunday morning sharing time, we may, throughout the Lenten season, talk about our experiences of practicing kindness and how we have been changed through this spiritual discipline. – Pastor Jan, Interim
