Yes, the Lord has done great things for us, and we are overjoyed.                          Psalm 126:3

 In the middle of  hardships,

remembering your blessings

with joy is a powerful antidote.

 ~Pastor Tim Speicher

This is the day the Lord has made; we will rejoice and celebrate in it!

Psalm 118:24

Greet each day with the wonderful potential it has!

Then God said, “Let us make humanity in our image to resemble us so that they may take charge of all the earth.”                                                                                     Genesis 1:26

May you have the God-like character of our creator. One who is caring,            respectful and sees the good on earth.

"In the morning, while it was still very dark, he got up and went out to a deserted place, and there he prayed." Mark 1:35

Jesus took time alone from the very start of his ministry. Today, find your time to set aside just to be alone with God.

The wise men came, “asking, Where is the child who has been born king of the Jews?” Matthew 2:2 (NRSV)

The first words in the New Testament attributed to human voices were men asking for directions! We seek help, too, when we are confused on our life journey.

“But the Lord answered her: Martha, Martha, you are worried and distracted by many things.” Luke 10:41 (NRSV)

Don’t let the little tasks of each day overwhelm your number one priority – a loving life of fulfilling relationships.

What shall I return to the Lord for all God’s bounty to me? I will pay my vows in the presence of all God’s people.” Psalm 116:12, 14

Gratitude for the blessings of life is not meant for boastful showing off, butneither is it to be a closed secret from others.     ~Pastor Tim Speicher

"Remember the Sabbath day, and keep it holy." Exodus 20:8

The sacredness of the Sabbath is rest.

God knows that your well-being depends upon regular quality breaks in your workweek.

“The Spirit helps us, for we do not know how to prayer as we ought, but that Spirit intercedes with sighs too deep for words.” Romans 8:26-27

When you have no words to express what you feel deep inside, God still hears and knows your prayer.

~Pastor Tim Speicher

“When an alien resides with you in your land, you shall not oppress the alien. The alien who resides with you shall be to you as the citizen among you; you shall love the alien as yourself, for you were aliens in the land of Egypt; I am the Lord your God.” Leviticus 19:33-34 (NRSV)

Sound familiar? Jesus lifted up this concept from the Torah as part of the great commandment to love God. Now – what don’t we        understand about the treatment of immigrants?

~Pastor Tim Speicher~

“For I desire steadfast love and not sacrifice.” Hosea 6:6 (NRSV)

Faithful, effective living comes from the motivation of the heart and not just the fulfillment of duty. ~Pastor Tim Speicher~

“For the Lord gives wisdom; from his mouth come knowledge and understanding;” Proverbs 3:6

Faithful, effective living requires wisdom and understanding, not just knowledge. Knowledge is “tomato is a fruit.” Wisdom is “Do not put tomatoes in fruit salad.”

~Pastor Tim Speicher

“So God blessed the seventh day and made it holy, because on it God rested from all the work that he had done...” Genesis 2:3 (NRSV-NIV)

The fullness of life is realized in its cycles. We all need a break from regular routine to continue life’s journey – daily, weekly and annually.

“Keep awake therefore, for you do not know on what day your Lord is coming.” Matthew 24:42

Be alert to life’s wonders. Be actively living with love and hope.

Do not stand as if elevator doors to heaven will open.

                                                           Pastor Tim Speicher~

“But about that day and hour no one knows, neither the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father.” Matthew 24:36

The expectation of faith is no reason to stop living today. True faith is confident that whenever the time comes, you will be found faithful.

                                                   Pastor Tim Speicher~

“Moses said, I must turn aside, look at this sight and see why the bush is not consumed. God called Moses! Moses said, Here I am”

                                                                              Exodus 3:3-4

First two rules of living are SHOW UP and PAY ATTENTION.

Find more opportunities for wonderful things to happen.

  ~Pastor Tim Speicher~

"Why do you see the speck in your neighbor's eye, but do not notice the log in your own eye?" Matthew 7:3

When tempted to put others in their place, remember first that you have your own issues to tend. God's grace is effective help for us all. When tempted to put others in their place, remember first that you have your own issues to tend. God's grace is effective help for us all.

 ~Pastor Tim Speicher~

"And can any of you by worrying add a single hour to your span of life?" Matthew 6:27

Worry even takes away from the life you live today. There is nothing that you and God cannot handle together.

~Pastor Tim Speicher~

"Let your word be 'Yes, Yes' or 'No, No'; anything more than this comes from the evil one." Matthew 5:37

The most faithful way of living is to be as good as your word.

“I put all my hope in the Lord. God lifted me out of the pit, out of the mud and filth, and steadied my legs.” Psalm 40:1-2

Lord, make me an instrument of your peace. Where there is despair, let me sow hope. (St Francis of Assisi)

“The word of the Lord came to Abram in a vision, Do not be afraid, I am your shield; your reward shall be very great.” Genesis 15:1

Whenever our love of God gets us beyond our fears along life’s journey, wonderful things can happen!

~Pastor Tim Speicher~

Unless your righteousness exceeds that of the scribes, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven." Matthew 5:20

When someone upsets you, don't feel you have the right to "sling mud" like a political candidate. You are responsible for how you live.

~Pastor Tim Speicher~

“In the morning, while it was still very dark, he got up and went out to a deserted place, and there he prayed.” Mark 1:35 (NIV)

Even Jesus took time to step away from life’s busy-ness to have some quiet moments of solitude and meditation. Take some time each day yourself.

~Pastor Tim Speicher~

"But about the day and the hour no one knows, neither the angels of heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father." Matthew 24:36

The only specific question we need to answer in the Bible: "Am I living the best I can today in loving God, neighbor and self?"

  ~Pastor Tim Speicher~

“You shall love the Lord your God… with all your soul…” Deuteronomy 6:5 (NRSV)

We honor God’s Spirit when we nurture our own spirit! Take time to care for yourself today.

“Thus says the Lord, I am about to do a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it?” Isaiah 43:16, 19

Living with God’s presence is being open to life’s dynamic opportunities.

~Pastor Tim Speicher~

“Moses’ father-in-law said to him, ‘What you are doing is not good. You will surely wear yourself out, both you and these people with you. For the task is too heavy for you; you cannot do it alone.’” Exodus 18:17-18 (NRSV)

We are challenged to share our burdens before we “burn out.”  Sometimes it is the last person we want to listen to who helps us realize our need to change our methods and delegate our duties.

“A generous person will be enriched, and one who gives water will get water.”

Proverbs 11:25

“Love is nothing until you give it away.” St Francis of Assisi: “Grant that I may not so much be loved as to love.” 2/27/14   ~Pastor Tim Speicher~

“but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat of it you shall die.” Genesis 2:17 (NRSV)

When we use our knowledge against others, judging them on our understanding of good and evil, we then become dead to the Spirit of God.    4/6/14

~Pastor Tim Speicher~

"Pray then in this way: Our Father Give us this day our daily bread And forgive us our sins, as we also have forgiven others"

Matthew 6: 9, 11-12

The prayer Jesus taught to the disciples has no "I." Prayer is more than your own individual checklist. Each one prays for all of us.

~Pastor Tim Speicher~

"Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust consume and where thieves break in and steal." Matthew 6:19

Simple living is quality living, not quantity acquiring. The more one gets the more one becomes afraid of losing; and fear is the opposite of love.

~Pastor Tim Speicher~

“Wise men came, asking, Where is the child who has been born king of the Jews?” Matthew 2:1-2

The first words attributed to humans in the New Testament were men asking for directions! Be as wise in keeping true to your goals.

             ~Pastor Tim Speicher~

Have a Blessed Thanksgiving!

Even Jesus had table manners. Before “digging in,” he said a prayer of blessing and then began to pass the food around so that all were served before he began to eat!

 ~Pastor Tim Speicher~

Jacob “dreamed that there was a ladder set up on earth, the top of it reaching to heaven; and the angels of God were ascending and descending on it.” Genesis 28:12 (NRSV)

The pathway of prayer is a two-way street. Be open to listening to God as well as praying to God in your quiet times.

~Pastor Tim Speicher~

“God saw everything that he had made, and indeed, it was very good.” Genesis 1:31a (NRSV)

Our created world is good, not “perfect, without flaw.” It is your responsibility and mine to bring our world to completeness and fulfillment. Made in God’s image, we have response-ability!

 ~Pastor Tim Speicher~

“Let your light shine before others, so they may see your good works and give glory to your Father in heaven.” Matthew 5:16 (NRSV)

“Be perfect, therefore, as your heavenly Father is perfect.”

 Matthew 5:48 (NRSV)

 ~Pastor Tim Speicher

If you judge people, you have no time to love them.

~Chinese fortune cookie~

“And I will show you a still more excellent way.”

 I Corinthians 12:31b (NRSV)

Of all the spiritual gifts we have to enjoy, the most important gift is love. It is this universal gift by which all our other individual gifts are to be guided.  ~Pastor Tim Speicher

“The voice of one crying out in the wilderness: Prepare the way of the Lord, make God’s paths straight.” Mark 1:3

At the very moment of feeling lost, wandering in wilderness, prepare the way for God into your situation.

~Pastor Tim Speicher

Finally beloved, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is pleasing, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence and if there is anything worth of praise, think about these things. Philippians 4:8 10/23/13

I give you a new commandment, that you love one another. John 13:34

Love. We’re told over and over to love each other, treat each other kindly, love your neighbor like you love yourself.

Love. The hardest, simplist thing Jesus asks us to do.

Practice love today!

“For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” Matthew 11:30 (NRSV)

Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God.” Matthew 5:9 (NRSV)

"Remember the Sabbath day, and keep it holy." Exodus 20:8

The sacredness of the Sabbath is rest. God knows that your well-being depends upon regular quality breaks in your workweek.

~Pastor Tim Speicher

So do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will bring worries of its own. Today’s trouble is enough for today.

        ~Matthew 6:34
